Detroit Red Wings forward @Dylan Larkin finished in seventh place in the faster skater event at the 2022 NHL All-Star Skills Competition in Las Vegas.
Larkin, the NHL’s all-time record holder in the event with a 13.172-second finish back in 2016, took 14.116 seconds to circle the ice surface at T-Mobile Arena on Friday.
The 25-year-old forward appeared to lose his footing slightly as he exited his final turn, coming dangerously close to the boards before beginning the last straightaway section.
Larkin ultimately placed ahead of of Washington Capitals forward @Evgeny Kuznetsov, whose 14.559-second finish ranked last in the event. St. Louis Blues forward @Jordan Kyrou won the event with a final time of 13.550 seconds.

Edmonton Oilers forward @Connor McDavid, a three-time champion in the event, finished fourth with a time of 13.690 seconds. He and Larkin were the only two former champions to compete in the 2022 competition.
Here’s the full breakdown of the fastest skater results:
  1. @Jordan Kyrou (STL): 13.550 seconds
  2. @Adrian Kempe (LAK): 13.585 seconds
  3. @Chris Kreider (NYR): 13.664 seconds

Larkin and the rest of his Atlantic Division teammates will suit up for their first game of the three-on-three All-Star tournament against the Central Division on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
