Wings Select Gustav Berglund 177th Overall

With the 177th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, the Red Wings have selected Gustav Berglund, an 18-year-old Swedish defenseman from the Frolunda system. This is a total Hakan Andersson draft and stash pick.

Berglund is listed at 6’2″ 194 lbs and is a right-hand shot. Berglund only played 9 games at the J20 SuperElit level, spending most of his season between the J18 Elit and J18 Allsvenskan leagues for Frolunda. In the J18 Elit, he registered 18 points in 15 games and in the J18 Allsvenskan he registered 11 points in 13 games. His progress will be very interesting to follow as he was completely off my radar.
