With the Red Wings on break, they’ve assigned defenseman Filip Hronek to Grand Rapids to keep him fresh.
Hronek, 21, put up 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points in his 17 game stint with the Wings and looks ready to graduate full time to the NHL. Hronek continued to play even after the Wings got Green and DeKeyser back from injury. Sending Hronek to Grand Rapids to keep him fresh makes sense, as Grand Rapids has four games during the time the Wings are on break.
Hronek leads Griffins defensemen with 5-13-18 in 20 games and will be a nice boost to a Grand Rapids lineup that has had to deal with a lot of turmoil this season with the Red Wings injury troubles prompting recalls.
