Red Wings Select Antti Tuomisto 35th Overall at 2019 NHL Entry Draft

Kicking off the action on day 2 of the draft, the Red Wings have selected Finnish defenseman Antti Tuomisto at 35th overall in the draft.

Tuomisto is a 6’4 194 lb right-handed defenseman that has his eye set on the college route. He plays in the Assat system in the Finnish Liiga and would have played in Liiga action if he wasn’t North America bound. The Wings went a little off the general consensus here but Tuomisto was considered a riser and it’s clear there’s a premium on right-handed defensemen this draft.
