Red Wings invite Jussi Jokinen to training camp on PTO

Per his Instagram, veteran center Jussi Jokinen is Detroit-bound after signing a PTO with the club for training camp. Jokinen played for four teams last season: Edmonton, Los Angeles, Columbus, and Vancouver where he had the most success this past season.

Jokinen had a combined 5 goals and 12 assists for 17 points in 60 NHL games and had good numbers in the faceoff circle, something the Red Wings are worried about seeing as how they’ll be without Henrik Zetterberg this season.

Having Jokinen in camp should provide stiff competition to centers Luke Glendening and Dominic Turgeon. There’s no risk in bringing in Jokinen, as a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) can be terminated at anytime the Red Wings choose.
