Red Wings forward Martin Frk has been placed on waivers today, per Elliotte Friedman on Twitter.
This move indicates that Tyler Bertuzzi’s return from a concussion is imminent and could possibly even happen as soon as Thursday against Ottawa. Bertuzzi was placed on injured reserve to create a roster spot for a returning Trevor Daley. Frk will need to be assigned to Grand Rapids if he clears as he’d be the 24th man on the maximum 23 man roster.
Frk, 25, has only registered 5 points in 25 games this season after putting up 25 points in 68 games last season. Frk lost his spot in the rotation to Jacob de la Rose and Christoffer Ehn, who have been really meshing well on the fourth line with rookie Michael Rasmussen.
If Frk clears and reports to Grand Rapids, he’d be a welcome addition to an already strong Griffins team but also further complicate their veteran rotation.
