WINGS POST-GAME: Shooting Stars Grant No Wishes

5 years agoDespite the Dallas Stars’ obvious internal team problems, the Red Wings couldn’t solve them tonight. In a terrible showing that leads me to believe they are still suffering through their holiday hangover, the Wings dropped tonight’s game by a score of 5-1.
WORTH MENTIONING
- Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, the two players who were called out by Stars CEO Jim Lites, escaped with a single point between the two of them. It was Seguin’s assist on Alex Radulov’s power play goal.
- Radulov scored twice, while Jason Spezza and Blake Comeau each added a goal and an assist.
- Dylan Larkin extended his point streak to 12 games with his 17th goal of the season. Unfortunately, the goal came too late to stage any sort of comeback.
- Gustav Nyquist scored late in the third period, but the goal was called back after the Stars challenged for goaltender interference on Justin Abdelkader. Larkin would have collected an assist on the goal.
- By the end of the second period, the Wings had allowed 33 shots. By the end of the game, they had allowed 42 shots. They only took 34 shots. The Wings have the third worst shot differential in the league. It’s hard to pin these games on the goalies when they’re facing more shots than most other goalies in the league.
- That being said, Jonathan Bernier posted a .881 save percentage.
