VIDEO: Red Wings React To Passing Of Ted Lindsay
By Nick Seguin
5 years agoThe hockey world lost a legend today in Ted Lindsay.
Lindsay was a great player back in his day, making 11 All-Star Game appearances, winning an Art Ross Trophy and four Stanley Cups. He was part of the famous Production Line with Gordie Howe and Alex Delvecchio, firmly implanting him in Red Wings lore forever. His number 7 hangs from the rafters of Little Caesars Arena.
Lindsay was always a presence in the Red Wings culture, both literally as he roams the concourses of Little Caesars Arena and visits the players in the locker rooms, and figuratively, as his number 7 hangs from the rafters among all the other Red Wings greats.
Management knew him well. The players knew him well. Everyone is feeling the loss today. Below are reactions from some within the Red Wings organization.

Lindsay did a lot for the Red Wings organization, but he did even more for the game of hockey. He fought tooth and nail for the players to unite into what would eventually become the NHLPA to the detriment of his own career. He boycotted his own Hall of Fame ceremony because it was a men-only event. His perseverance, leadership, and kindness left everyone who ever met him better off.
Here are some of the many reactions from the hockey world on today’s news:
Rest in peace, Ted. We miss you already.
