Now that the off-season is in full bloom, names will begin to pop up and will be associated with various NHL teams.
The Red Wings have plenty to work on and adding to their prospect pool would be a very shrewd move. One player that they are circling around is Victor Ejdsell. Ejdsell was a top player in the Allsvenskan, a second tier league in Sweden. He actually scored the most points in the league this past year.
The league is mostly used as a developmental league for younger players, similarly to the OHL. Ejdsell is one of the older players in the league so his production needs to be considered with that context.
According to NWT.SE, Ejdsell is being pursued by two other clubs as well. Ejdsell is a hulking fellow and immediately could be a presence on any team he would join. At 6’5 and 214 lbs, he shouldn’t have a problem adjusting to the North American game.
In the translation of the article, it is believed that Ejdsell will be making his decision on which contract to sign on Wednesday. As well as the Red Wings, the Blackhawks and Predators are in pursuit. Evaluating young talent can be hard but in the case of Ejdsell, his ability is smacking you in the face. It’ll be compelling to see where he eventually ends up.
