Grand Rapids Griffins Release 2016-17 Schedule

We have a start date for our favourite Red Wings prospects! On Monday afternoon, the Grand Rapids Griffins released their 2016-17 schedule.
The puck drops on Friday, October 14th at 7p.m. against the Chicago Wolves on home ice. The very next night they will play their first road game against Chicago. From there, they will play 37 home games and 37 road games, all within the Western Conference. Twelve of those games will be against teams in the Pacific Division, two of which, the San Jose Barracuda and the Stockton Heat, the Griffins have never played before!
Led by head coach Todd Nelson in his second year on the job, the Griffins are joined by newcomers Dylan Sadowy and Conor Allen as well as returning veteran Louis-Marc Aubry. The biggest question mark for the roster is in NHL-ready prospects Andreas Athanasiou and Anthony Mantha. While Red Wings management swears that everybody gets a fair shot in training camp, I expect these two to be wearing a Griffins sweater at season’s start.
Another situation worth keeping an eye on is defensemen who have to go through waivers if sent down to the Griffins. Xavier Ouellet, Ryan Sproul, Nick Jensen and Bryan Lashoff are all at risk.
If you’re interested, the Griffins have made it very easy to sync the Griffins schedule to your personal calendar:
