As is customary at the end of every season, the Detroit Red Wings today released their ‘Thank You Fans’ video. The video, which can be found on the Red Wings official site, features the faces of the franchise doing exactly what they’re supposed to do: thanking the fans.
Here’s the video:
In addition to being a love letter to the fan base, the video also highlights the inaugural season of Little Caesars Arena by showing visuals of the beautiful concourses, the clean exterior, and ecstatic fans in seats.
They did a good job of finding footage that minimized the empty red seats, instead showing close-ups of sections from goal celebrations and pre-puck drop ceremonies. Attendance was certainly a concern to home spectators this season, despite reports that every game was selling out.
In any case, the faces of the franchise touted their new building as being loud and credited the fans for having their back. Having Dylan Larkin in the video this year was a nice addition, as the young center transitioned nicely into a leadership role on the ice this season.
This video officially wraps up the season for the players, some of whom are heading to the World Junior Championships and others who are just taking time for themselves and their families. Whatever the players are doing, it’s been a long season and the time off from the NHL will do them some good to reflect and reset. They’re going to need to come back strong in October.
