GOTTA SEE IT: Red Wings Goalie Prospect Sets Up 2-on-1 With Beautiful Pass

Last year, the Red Wings signed Czech goaltender Matej Machovsky to a one-year deal. This year, he’s been playing with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. A few nights ago, he made a beautiful North-South pass to send his forwards in on a 2-on-1.

In this play, Machovsky shows confidence and an awareness that ultimately results in a goal for his team. In seven games for the Walleye this year, he’s posted a .917 save percentage and 2.49 goals against average. While these stats are the best among the team’s three goaltenders, Machovsky’s play hasn’t been good enough to earn him a spot in Grand Rapids as the Red Wings have a log jam of goaltenders that starts in the NHL.

Still, it’s fun to see highlights like this from Red Wings farm teams, especially when the big team isn’t producing them.
