This season has been painful for many reasons, this historic 9-game losing streak included, but there have been some bright spots. Dylan Larkin is one of them.
After a disappointing sophomore outing that saw the youngster put up a mere 32 points, Larkin has bounced back in a big way this year. On January 3rd, Larkin surpassed his point total from last year. On February 24th, he surpassed his impressive 45 point total from his rookie campaign. Last night, he hit another milestone when he recorded his 50th point of the season.

Larkin has really focused this year on being a strong two-way center with great awareness. His playmaking ability, which is on full display with this goal, has been his greatest contribution to the Wings offense this year. 41 of his 50 points are assists. More than half of those were primary assists.
At 21-years-old, Larkin leads the team in point totals in all situations, including 5-on-5. Don’t be concerned about his lack of goals. With a 196 shots on the season (that’s the most on the team, by the way), Larkin only has a 4.6 shooting percentage, suggesting he’s had some pretty bad luck considering his career average shooting percentage is 8.2%. He will bounce back in that department.
This is the first of hopefully many 50 points campaigns in Larkin’s career. He’s currently on pace to record 58 points. Do you think he can push through and hit 60?
