Just to mix things up today, the Wings decided to announce a new entry-level signing, their first one of the new season to distract from their 0-2 start.
Smith, as you probably recall, was taken in this past year’s draft from the Guelph Storm. Through seven games this season, he’s currently registered five points (2 G, 3 A). The entry level contract itself is pretty much a formality at this point, but he is the first Wings draft pick from this past year to actually sign it.It’s unlikely we’ll see him in a Wings uniform anytime in the near future, but he should be fun enough to monitor at the OHL level (and potentially in the AHL) later this year.
