Well, today wasn’t the best of days for the Detroit Red Wings at the World Championship.
As the headline says, Dylan Larkin, Jimmy Howard, Petr Mrazek, Danny DeKeyser and Jeff Blashill were all eliminated from the IIHF World Championship today, as both the Czech Republic and the United States of America were bounced in 3-0 and 2-0 losses to Russia and Finland, respectively.
All the Red Wings players were obviously held pointless today as their teams crashed out without making much of a splash in the medal rounds.
Howard made 18 saves on 20 shots, while Harri Sateri earned his first shutout of the tournament with 26 stops.
Meanwhile, Petr Mrazek was not in net as he played backup to Pavel Francouz. Questionable move at best.
Larkin finished the tournament with 10 points in 8 games, while Danny DeKeyser had 0 points in 8 games. Both are the future of the Red Wings.
Howard finished the tournament with a .919 save percentage in six games, while Mrazek struggled with a .881 in four games.
If there’s one positive coming out of the losses, it’s that the Red Wings Five can get their offseason routine started a little bit earlier. Or maybe their vacations. Who knows what they’re up to, really?
Full recap coming soon.
