With Head Coach Jeff Blashill shuffling around the lines in recent games, there is now going to be a newcomer entering the fray.
Per Elliotte Friedman, the Red Wings claimed forward Jacob de la Rose from the Montreal Canadiens this afternoon.
The Swedish forward was drafted by the Canadiens in the second round, 34th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft. He has been playing in North America since the 2014-15 season, where he surprisingly made the NHL after coming from overseas as a 19-year-old.
Now 23, de la Rose has spent about an equal amount of time between the NHL and AHL so far in his North American career. In 119 games for the Canadiens, he has only 8 goals and 19 points, but he only averaged barely over twelve minutes a night.
With the Laval Rocket of the AHL, de la Rose had a total of 27 goals and 56 points in 133 games. Not the most impressive stats, but someone to take a chance on when he is this young.
