WGD 67: Golden Knights @ Red Wings
After an impressive showing from our young and blooming stars, the Tatar-less Red Wings are back home at the LCA to take on the Tatar-full Vegas Golden Knights.
Boston outshot Detroit 37-35, so at least the Wings are keeping it close in recent games. It definitely helps when the other team doesn’t have a Witkowski playing a solid 3:42 the whole game. Mantha and Bertuzzi had stellar games but the Red Wings eventually came up short against the Bruins on Monday night. At least do it in regulation Boston, you’re hurting our draft pick.
Marchand haunted everyone’s dreams that night, but let’s hope that the Wings can persevere and battle through a tough opponent in the Golden Knights. Lose, but keep your dignity.

THE RETURN OF THE SVECH. It is so refreshing to finally see some more youth injected into this Red Wings lineup. After Bertuzzi was called up a couple months ago, I felt there was no hope to see any more of our young prospects make the jump. But as the credits are just starting to roll on the 2017-18 season for the Red Wings, the team gets to put on a final show of the future and some hope into every Wings fan’s heart.
As the Krupa says, Geno is staying and I’m way too excited to watch a Red Wings game this season.
Martin Frk has made the leap up the lineup to play with our two boys Larkin and Mantha. Hopefully that can spark some even-strength offense from Martin.

It’s tough to see two exes in real life, let alone on the opposing hockey team. Tomas and Tomas make a great pair together and I’m just glad they’re happy. We’ll move on and become stronger people because of it.
It must feel good looking forward to the playoffs. Tatar deserves it.
The Marchessault-Karlsson-Tatar line is sure to do some damage against this Red Wings defence. We all know the stories of how William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault and the other band of rejects are performing this season. Colin Miller has come out as a top-4 defenceman that everyone was screaming for him to get more minutes in Boston, alas he’s a good hockey player and the numbers didn’t lie.
They also have Ryan Reaves, great guy and not a great hockey player.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Jimmy Howard vs. Marc-Andre Fleury
A historic matchup back from the heated Penguins rivalry – is sure to bring some heat to Howard’s game.
Fleury is having a renaissance season no doubt. A .926 sv% along with 2 shutouts – Flower is providing this fresh team with performances straight from 2009.
Howard on the other hand is continuing the tradition of having a mediocre year after a superb and underrated one. A .911 sv% heading into this game is likely going to drop depending on the Wings performance in front of Jimmy. Although this year, the defence is surely lacking – his 2.80 GAA is tied for the worst in his 9-year career as the Red Wings starting goaltender. Those six guys ahead of him are not doing such a stand-up job.
