Watch Griffins’ home opener on Facebook Watch

Grand Rapids Griffins fans were fortunate to be able to watch the team’s first two road games last weekend, and they’ll be in luck again for the home opener.

The AHL announced Thursday the league will feature a Game of the Week on Facebook Watch during the 2018-19 season. The Griffins’ game Friday against the Hershey Bears will be the first of a doubleheader.

Every Friday night, a live AHL game will be available for free on Facebook Watch on mobile, desktop and Facebook’s TV apps.

Grand Rapids will be looking for its first win of the season, after losing to the Texas Stars (3-1) and the San Antonio Rampage (4-0) last weekend.

Filip Zadina, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2018 NHL draft, is scoreless in two games, with a minus-3 rating and three shots on goal.

Matthew Ford has the team’s only goal, scoring on the power play.
