Today the AHL released their rosters for the upcoming 2018 All-Star game held in Utica, NY.
Matt Puempel and Matt Lorito will represent the Griffins alongside other players from the Central Division. Recently acquired through a low-level deal between the Red Wings and the Rangers, Matt Puempel has put up 12 goals and 24 points in the 22 games played since he has arrived. At 24-year-old, this is Puempel’s first time in the All-Star game. Much deserved after leading the team in points for most of the time he has been a Griffin.
The player just under Puempel’s name on most Griffins leaderboards is 27-year-old left-winger Matt Lorito. He has put up a solid 10 goals and 25 points in just 27 games this year. Earning his second-straight call to be an AHL All-Star and both representing Grand Rapids while doing so.
There will be an AHL All-Star Skills Competition where both conferences will face-off against one another in seven different skills events. That will take place on January 28th at 8 p.m.
The All-Star Challenge, a divisional 3-on-3 round-robin tournament featuring six games of 10 minutes each, will be played January 29th starting at 7 p.m.
Both events will take place at the Adirondack Bank Center at Utica Memorial Auditorium, in Utica, New York. Tickets are on sale at www.empirestatetix.com
Go and watch a fresh-faced Griffin and a reigning Calder Cup champ take on the world in Utica.
