The Wings look to restore some of that early season youthfulness and recall forward Christoffer Ehn.
Ehn played the first nine games of the season for the Wings, after making the team out of camp. He was sent down when some older veterans returned to full health and he has absolutely dominated in the AHL this season.
The 22-year-old forward scored one goal and three assists in five games for the Griffins. While Ehn was on the ice, the Griffins were defensively stable as well. Not a single even-strength goal was scored against them while Ehn was out there.
In the AHL his offensive game has been shown, but not so much in the NHL. In the nine games with the Wings, Ehn only has a single assist to his name. It could be that he was averaging less than ten minutes on the ice per game, but he can still provide some bottom-six offense while he’s up here.
Maybe that AHL spark will continue and he’ll score some points while he’s here.
The Wings were projected to go with 11 forwards and 7 defencemen against the Canucks tonight, so maybe Ehn will slot in to make it 12/6, but maybe not. We shall see when the puck is dropped.
