Entering tonight, the Wings are on a 6 game losing streak. They need to right the ship and get back in the win column.

The Rundown

The Wings got off to a lazy start, which proved costly to one of the NHL’s hottest teams. Paul Byron started the scoring 5:24 into the first period on a break away.
Literally seconds later, Deslauriers put the 2nd goal behind Mrazek. As Prashanth points out, Athanasiou is caught cheating and allowed Deslauriers to get in behind him.
Montreal received many scoring chances to start the game, mostly on turnovers. This is the 9th time this season Detroit has surrendered 2 goals in under a minute. Believe it or not, Detroit’s best play and first scoring chance came on the penalty kill – Larkin fanned on an open-net opportunity. Shortly thereafter, Mantha found himself in alone but Price made an incredible glove save to rob him.
In the last second of the first period, Mrazek made an inhuman save to bail out the team.
To start the 2nd period, Byron blew by Kronwall and Jensen to get his second goal of the game.
Montreal is owning this game and Detroit is leaving Mrazek out to dry. De La Rose receives a gorgeous pass for an easy tap-in.
I’m a big fan of Prashanth.
At this point, Detroit is going to have to score 5 against Price to win. This quickly changed to 6. On a 4 on 3 power play, Hudon snipes one short side on Mrazek.
This 5th goal was curtains for Mrazek as Howard comes in to relieve him. The offence didn’t take long to return as Byron recorded his first career hat trick. I’ve now turned off Wings’ notifications to my phone.
Going into this game, Montreal had the third-fewest goals-for in the league. Clearly this didn’t matter.
Before the third period started I imagined I was the only person left viewing this game. The Wings need to score 7 this period to win. This game’s over.
7-0.
Gallagher sniped one top shelf on Howard on, yet another, breakaway.
This has been an absolute embarrassing stretch of 7 games. It’s time to blow this team up Holland.
This slaughtering became worse when Benn was left alone in front with a lot of time to slap one short side for Montreal’s 8th of the game.
Detroit finally ended the shutout as the puck rolls passed Price. Athanasiou credited with the lone-goal.
9-1. Carr backhanded one behind Howard on a 2 on 0 breakout.
Oh my god, Shaw scores the 10th.
7 Canadiens recorded multi-point nights.
Final score: 10-1.

Motor City MVP

LOL.

What’s Next?

On Tuesday December 5th, the Wings will host the Jets at LCA. Not a good bet they’ll end their losing streak then. Brock Seguin will have your pre-game available at wingsnation.com and the game will be available on FS Detroit.
