Rasmussen named as Americans captain for 2018-19 season

While the Red Wings might be without their captain for next season, a top prospect might be leading his team in the WHL.

Rasmussen served as captain for his Tri-City Americans last season as well, so this is nothing new. But the Western Hockey League team is playing it cautious, in the most likely scenario that Rasmussen will be playing for the Wings all next year.

Most media members have already said that he is a lock to make the team next season, but there are always weird things going on in the hockey world.

This is clearly just a precaution by Tri-City, especially that they named winger Nolan Yaremko as the captain for when Rasmussen will be playing in Detroit. Nothing to read into here.
