Just as the bounces have been going his way, forward Anthony Mantha has suffered an undisclosed injury, per Ansar Khan.
Announced this morning by Ansar Khan of MLive, it is speculation that Mantha might be out for a long period of time. GM Holland will know more about the injury today and will most likely spread the word of the timeline for the young forward.
He most likely re-injured his hand when he got involved in a fight against the Colorado Avalanche last Sunday night. Mantha fractured his finger during a fight in March 2017.
Mantha was finally getting the points he deserved after a rough beginning to his season – a couple multi-point games against the Sabres and Blue Jackets earlier last week.
This season, he is averaging his highest TOI (17:31) of his career and is on pace to break his career-high goals of 24 in a season, with 27. He has been on Larkin’s wing for the majority of the season and has rightfully deserved to be there. The duo has the highest 5v5 CF% on the team right now.
As for who will be replacing Mantha in the lineup, Khan has some more information.
With the absence of Bertuzzi for two games and Mantha indefinitely, Martin Frk and Christoffer Ehn will be having a more regular role on the Wings for the time being.
The Wings face the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight at home.
