The 26-year-old netminder has been named CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month for February.

Before being called-up to the Red Wings on February 20th, the Griffins were undefeated (4-0-2) with Coreau inbetween the pipes. Including a pair of back-to-back shutouts against the Western Conference-leading Manitoba Moose – facing 66 shots in total. Earning him the title of AHL Player of the Week on February 19th.
In February, Coreau posted a .951 sv%, bringing his season-total to .916 sv%.
The Griffins’ goaler’s second monthly accolade (Dec. 2015) and the fifth time a goaltender for the Griffins has earned the Goaltender of the Month honors. The most recent case being Jimmy Howard in December of 2007. This is Coreau’s fourth AHL title in his career, having also been named Player of the Week back in February 2015.
Coreau is yet to make his NHL season debut, but most likely will as the first-choice backup to Jimmy Howard for the rest of the Red Wings’ season.
He is deserving of a NHL chance this season after starting all 19 games leading the Griffins to be the reigning Calder Cup Champions.
His fifth year with the Griffins, Coreau has started 35 games this season and played in a total of 146 in those five years – sporting a solid 84-48-10 record and a .919 sv%.
The Griffins are 21-4-0-3 in their last 28 games and will conclude a six-game homestand this weekend by facing the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday and the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday. Both contests will begin at 7 p.m.
Single-game tickets are currently on sale. Fans can secure their full-seasonselect-season or group ticket packages by calling (616) 774-4585 ext. 2 or visit griffinshockey.com for more information.
