Per Darren Dreger of TSN, The Detroit Red Wings have traded defenseman Nick Jensen and a 2019 5th round pick to the Washington Capitals for defenseman Madison Bowey and a 2020 2nd round pick.
Jensen, 28, is a UFA at the end of the season and has 2 goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 60 games.
Jensen was the top defenseman on the trade market and #11 on TSN’s Trade Bait List.
Jensen has registered 43 points in 190 NHL games all with Detroit.
Madison Bowey, 23, is 6’1″ 194 lbs and also a right-hand shot per Elite Prospects. Bowey has 1 goal and 5 assists for 6 points in 33 games this season, his 2nd in the NHL. He has 18 points in 84 career NHL games and 51 points in 113 career AHL games.
Bowey has another year left on his contract and clearly, the Wings feel he’s worth taking a flyer on to see if they can develop him into an everyday NHLer.
