The Denver Pioneers have announced that Red Wings top goalie prospect Filip Larsson is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. Larsson, 20, missed several USHL games due to that injury and his Team Sweden commitments.
Larsson led the USHL with a 1.65 goals-against average and .941 save percentage in 30 games with the Tri-City Storm, earning him the USHL Goaltender of the Year award. His .941 save percentage is the best recorded by a goalie in the USHL’s history.
A quote from the scouting report on Dobber Prospects: “Red Wings goaltending development coach Brian Mahoney has compared Larsson’s style to Henrik Lundqvist. He is a good blocking goalie who covers the net well, controls rebounds and has a calm demeanor.”
Red Wings fans everywhere wish Filip a speedy recovery and look forward to his return to the ice.
