The Red Wings announced on Saturday that eight players have been placed on waivers with the purpose of being assigned to Grand Rapids of the AHL. Those eight players are Dylan McIlrath, Dominic Turgeon, Matt Puempel, Joe Hicketts, Calvin Pickard, Brian Lashoff, Turner Elson, and Chris Terry.
Although all eight should pass through unclaimed, Pickard has the best chance of being claimed. The goaltending depth still in free agency makes that unlikely though. Michal Neuvirth, Chad Johnson, and Scott Darling are all available if a team needs a goalie in a pinch.
