The Detroit Red Wings announced that they have acquired left wing Brendan Perlini from Chicago for prospect defenseman Alec Regula.
Perlini, 23, was looking for a change of scenery and the Wings need depth scoring. Even though he’s a local guy, giving up Regula, who looks to be on his way to being a 3rd pair NHL defenseman, is a small price to pay for someone with 45 NHL goals in 200 games and it doesn’t really dent the prospect pool. Perlini had 14 goals last season and 17 the season prior. He’ll have every opportunity to carve out a regular NHL role and if he can’t guys like Evgeny Svechnikov, Givani Smith, and Ryan Kuffner will be chomping at the bit to prove they can.
