WN Roundtable: Team, Assemble!

With the topics of this week being so similar to last weeks, we’ve decided to change things up a bit today. Instead of blabbing about a Wings talking point that you’re probably already exhausted of, we thought it would be nice to introduce some of the staff! Here are a few people who would like to say hello:

Nick Seguin

Marketer by day, writer by night, I’ve been a die-hard Wings fan my whole life. Growing up in Windsor, Ontario through the nineties meant that I got to see the Red Wings rise to success under the leadership of Steve Yzerman – my personal and professional hero. At the age of 18, I moved up the highway to Toronto, Ontario to study Film Theory and History at York University. There, through a series of screenwriting classes, I fell in love with putting words on paper. Now, at 27 years old, I am living in downtown Toronto and working as an events marketer in the spirits and wine industry. I believe Breaking Bad is the best show that’s been on television and I know all of the chicken wing deals in the downtown core. I spend my free time playing hockey at Moss Park Arena, chirping Leafs fans, and now writing about the Red Wings.

Kyle Krische

I’m Kyle Krische, part of the new influx of writers here at Wings Nation. I was raised a Wings fan in Kitchener, Ontario and currently reside in Hamilton with my wife Elysha. I grew up worshipping Holmstrom and McCarty so needless to say I have a little soft spot for the role players.  I’m looking to regularly contribute opinion articles that examine both the smaller moving parts of the team, the prospect pool and the issues that matter foremost to the club today. I also host a podcast called The Half Boards that looks at the NHL as a whole by exploring player profiles, weekly news stories and the world of fantasy hockey.

Scott Maxwell

I’m Scott Maxwell, an 18-year-old writer from St. Marys, Ontario. I fell in love with the Leafs, but the rest of my family cheers for the Wings, so I’ve always seemed to know all about them.
I’ve always had a passion for writing, and have been trying to make a name for myself, whether it be through my own blogs, Raise the Compete and Posts Per 60, my hometown newspaper called The St. Marys Independent (who I worked with for a few months through coop), and now, the Wings Nation. I can say that I will be attending a Canadian university to study journalism next year, I just have no idea which one yet. I’m also a grocery clerk, so feel free to @ me with your Travis Yost-esque food opinions.
In my spare time, I either watch any hockey games that are on, listen to or make music (I’m in a rock band and a wind ensemble), or play video games, mostly whichever NHL game is popular.

Ryan Hana

Hello all, my name is Ryan Hana. I was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, pretty much within view of Joe Louis Arena from across the river. I have since moved up to the Kitchener-Waterloo region for school and work, which is where we started up the Winged Wheel Podcast.
I have been a Red Wings fan my entire life, having started watching and playing hockey since I was 3 years old. Outside of obsessing over the game, I spend a ton of time reading, keeping active through the gym or various sports (that I am not good at, unless it’s hockey), and FaceTiming my dog, Cooper.
If this whole hockey media gig doesn’t quite take off to the point of being self-sustaining, I hope to utilize my Science degree and study Health Policy, Biochemical Patent Law, or enter the field of Biotechnology.

Brock Seguin

I’m Brock Seguin, a 24-year-old hockey writer. I was born into Red Wings fandom, growing up in nearby Windsor, Ontario. While attending Journalism and New Media school, I aspired to be on television but writing about it seven days a week isn’t a bad alternative. I have been bringing up-to-the-minute Fantasy Hockey advice and analysis to the World as the Editor-In-Chief of DailyFaceoff.com since 2012. As a member of The Nation Network since 2014, I thought for sure that I would have to write for a Canadian team until Wings Nation was launched! I look forward to bringing you folks all kinds of Red Wings content going forward. Here’s hoping we extend the playoff streak to 25, because I don’t know what life is like without it! Cheers.

Brad Krysko

Hi, I’m Brad and I’m addicted to hockey. I work roughly 60 hours a week for a business that I co-own, CloutsnChara Sports Cards in Kitchener, On. The benefit of this business is that I’m surrounded by hockey for those 60 hours. Then in my free time I like to talk hockey on my Podcast, The Winged Wheel Podcast.
When I’m not working at my hockey card store and talking hockey on my podcast, I enjoy playing hockey and watching hockey. I tend to hit the ice 2-3 times a week still and plan on doing so until my legs literally can’t support me anymore. I’m only 28 so I’ve got some time left, I hope.
Even though none of my friends or coworkers believe me, I do have things going on outside of hockey. I married my beautiful wife this past September and we are expecting a little girl this coming May so that’s neat (our first as likely only child). Now that’s out of the way, I now look forward to writing more about hockey here so that’s also neat. Hopefully I don’t suck at it!

Adam Laskaris

I write at a few places, but you’ll mostly care about this one. Right now, I’m finishing up my third year at a Canadian university. Darren Helm is my favourite Red Wing, and the Red Wings have made the playoffs every year of my life. My hometown team is currently undergoing a rebuild, but I guess all the Canadian teams are. I’m looking forward to what’s ahead for this site, and mostly will be bringing news-focused pieces to the table.
This isn’t the entire crew, of course; we’ll have more members passing through to say hi in the near future!
