It was announced earlier today that both Dennis Cholowski and Dylan Mcllrath would be sent down to the Griffins.
This came hours after the team announced the return of Filip Zadina to the AHL and a day after Madison Bowey cleared waivers to be reassigned to Grand Rapids.
Cholowski has skated in 29 games this season with 8 points (2-6-8), along with 14 hits, 27 blocked shots, and 43 shots on goal. He was averaging 19:34 time on ice a night as well. He has struggled as of late, along with the whole team, going -13 the past 10 games.
McIlrath had no points and a minus-4 rating in 16 games with Detroit. A stay at home model of defense is his game, but he is the odd man out on the roster after Daley’s return to the lineup.
The Wings will now carry six defensemen for tomorrow’s game against the Jets with the likes of Trevor Daley, Jonathan Ericsson, Filip Hronek, Alex Biega, Mike Green, and Patrik Nemeth.
