Thoughts and Highlights

• The Red Wings managed to hold a slim 1-0 lead after one period despite being outattempted 18-7.
• Then the second period happened, and the puck possession the Predators enjoyed in the first period started to pay off in the second period.
• The Red Wings have allowed at least five goals in eight of their 16 games this season. They allowed more than five 19 times last season.
• Andreas Athanasiou finally broke his goalless drought, scoring his first of the season after a nice heads-up play from Filip Hronek.

• Early in the second period, the Predators tied it at 1-1, as a shot from Dan Hamhuis was deflected by Nick Bonino.
• About three minutes later, the Predators took the lead off a nice wrister from Kyle Turris.
• And just 1:02 later, Colton Sissons beat Jimmy Howard on the far side to put the Predators up 3-1.
• And the onslaught continued another 1:02 later, as Matt Duchene‘s shot deflected off Madison Bowey‘s stick and past Howard for the 4-1 lead.
• Late in the second period, after Jonathan Bernier replaced Howard in net, Duchene put in a rebound to notch his second of the game and put the Predators up 5-1.
• Filip Forsberg added salt to the wound, scoring on the power play to increase the lead to 6-1 in the third period.
