After an almost comeback against the Leafs, the Wings looked to use that little bit of momentum to have a solid California trip. And so, they started by doing nothing at all, and lost 2-0 to the Ducks.

THE RUNDOWN

How do you start off a late night game for your fans who are already tired and want to go to bed? With a really slow ass boring period. How do you make it worse? Have Jonathan Ericsson turn the puck over to some made up guy named Ondrej Kase, and have it end up with Nick Ritchie scoring. So, not a great way to entice your fans to stay up late.
But wait, right off the hop in the second, Brendan Smith shoots it off the post, off John Gibson, and in. Except, this is the Anaheim Ducks, and not the Toronto Maple Leafs, so they actually got called for goalie interference this time. AND THEN…nothing. Another boring period of hockey where not much happened. Not even an actual goal this time.
And then there’s the third period, which consisted of…more nothing. Oh, that made up guy scored with a few minutes left to put the game out of reach, but yeah, that was it.
Seriously, why’d you do this to yourself. Go to bed.

THE STATS

The Wings had their moments, but when it came down to it, the Ducks were either controlling the play, or going back and forth with the Wings. It didn’t help that the Wings flat-lined in the final quarter of the game either.

MOTOR CITY MVP

The MVP goes to Steve Ott for his gritty performance on the powerplay.
Yeah, no, it goes to that loud ass horn at the end of the game. Because it put an end to the game.

UP NEXT

Oh, you’re tired, and want to go to bed early tomorrow night to make up for this game? Too bad, the Wings play the Kings tonight, so you’re staying up late again. Pucks dropping at 10:30 pm again, so let’s have some fun!
