The Red Wings are in the Big Apple tonight! This original six match-up comes at the tail end of the season, with the draft lottery being the primary focus of both the Red Wings and Rangers fan bases. But there is still hockey to be played and much to prove in the final ten games of the season.
The Rangers as of late have really committed to the tank. They have just one win in their past eleven games. A good opportunity for the Wings to build some confidence and pick up two points tonight.

BRIAN LASHOFF

LUKE WITKOWSKI
Drawing into the lineup for his first career NHL game is recently signed undrafted free-agent Taro Hirose. The Michigan State product earlier today was named Big 10 Player of the Year. Not a bad day for the kid, I’d say.
With Hirose entering the lineup, Ryan Kuffner will sit out after making his NHL debut on Saturday.
Else where in the lineup that stands out is the bottom pairing, and not in a good way. The combination of Brian Lashoff and Luke Witkowski can’t bode well for Detroit’s chances of winning. We might see some extended minutes for the top-4 of the defensive corps.

DEFENSIVE PAIRINGS

MARC STAAL

ANTHONY DEANGELO

BRADY SKJEI

NEAL PIONK

FREDRIK CLAESSON

KEVIN SHATTENKIRK
The Rangers boast a fairly young lineup. After shipping off Mats Zuccarello to the Dallas Stars, New York has very much committed to going young. Evident by Anthony DeAngelo, Brett Howden, and others playing prominent roles.
Out of the lineup is Filip Chytil with an illness. However, there is still a possibility he plays tonight, being listed as a game time decision.

Between the Pipes

Jimmy Howard vs. Henrik Lundqvist
A classic match-up between Jimmy Howard and Henrik Lundqvist is set to go down once again. These two always put on a show when playing against each other.

How to Watch

Puck drop is at 7:00 P.M. ET tonight and you’ll be able to catch the game on Fox Sports Detroit.
