Detroit Red Wings captain @Dylan Larkin scored an impressive goal — assisted by two Calder Trophy frontrunners — in the second period of his team’s 5–2 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.
The Wings received their first (and only) power play of Tuesday’s contest late in the second period when @John Klingberg tripped up @Robby Fabbri at the 14:26 mark of the frame.
Mere seconds after Klingberg started serving his penalty, the Red Wings went to work in the offensive zone. Rookie sensations @Moritz Seider and @Lucas Raymond played catch with the puck along the right side before it found its way over to Larkin at the left point.
The 25-year-old center took only one stride towards Stars goaltender @Jake Oettinger before unleashing a shot that whistled off the crossbar and into the net. Seider and Raymond picked up the helpers on Larkin’s eighth goal in 14 games this season.
Here’s the video of Larkin’s goal, as posted to Twitter by the official NHL account:
Larkin ultimately left the game prior to the start of the third period after entering the National Hockey League’s COVID-19 protocol during the second intermission.
@Filip Zadina also scored for Detroit, which fell to 8–8–2 with the loss. Red Wings goaltender @Alex Nedeljkovic fell to 4–3–2 on the season with a .913 save percentage after allowing four goals on 29 shots.
