Detroit Red Wings captain @Dylan Larkin recorded his 300th National Hockey League point with the game-winning goal over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.
With the game tied 2-2, Larkin and Detroit linemate @Lucas Raymond broke into the Canadiens’ offensive zone on a 2-on-1 rush in the overtime period.
Raymond attempted to beat Canadiens goaltender @Jake Allen with a backhand shot but it missed the net. The puck ricocheted off the end boards right onto the stick of Larkin, who immediately fired it from the goal line to Allen’s right.
Don’t ask us how, but Larkin’s shot found its way into the back of the net. Raymond picked up the lone helper on Larkin’s second goal of the game, which was also his sixth of the season and the 300th point of his NHL career.
Here’s the video of Larkin’s sharp-angle snipe, courtesy Bally Sports Detroit on Twitter:
@Ryan Poehling opened the scoring for Montreal in the first period. Early in the middle frame, Larkin responded to tie the game at 1-1.
@Filip Hronek and @Tyler Bertuzzi assisted on Larkin’s first goal of the night, which came at the 2:36 mark of the second period. It also came from a ludicrous angle on Allen’s right side.
@Pius Suter scored Detroit’s other goal in the 3-2 overtime win. @Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 35 of the 37 shots he faced for his third consecutive victory in a Red Wings sweater.
Detroit (8-6-2) will return to action at Nationwide Arena in Columbus on Nov. 15 to take on the 7-5-0 Blue Jackets.
