How’s this for #OffseasonContent?
For the low, low price of $50, you can get a personalized video shoutout from Detroit Red Wings winger Evgeny Svechnikov.
Whether you want Geno to wish your friend happy birthday, offer congratulations for a recent engagement or just to say hi, Cameo gives fans the opportunity to receive “the most authentic and memorable fan experiences in the world” from their favorite celebrities.
Darren McCarty, former Detroit Red Wings and one-third of the revamped Grind Line, also is on Cameo. However, his services run a little higher at $100.
Svechnikov recently joined the website, as his page has a “new this week” tag and just one review from a customer. McCarty, on the other hand, has seven reviews, all five stars.
Svechnikov shows a lot of personality and excitement in his intro video, which is a rarity among NHL players, so it’s good to see him come out of his shell to make fans happy. McCarty seems to use it more for promoting his podcast and comedy tour, but regardless, anyone who grew up watching the Red Wings in the 1990s will no doubt get all the nostalgia feels should he send them a personalized greeting.
Other former and current hockey players who will give shoutouts include Jeremy Roenick, Mark Messier, Patrick O’Brien Demsey, John Scott and Nazem Kadri.
According to Cameo’s FAQ, revenues are split 75% to the talent and 25% to Cameo, with Cameo offering the ability for celebrities to donate their cut of the proceeds to their favorite charity.
It takes about seven days for a video to be created and emailed to customers, and the talent sets his or her price.
