Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday!
This week in 2001 (June 30), the Detroit Red Wings acquired goaltender Dominik Hasek from the Buffalo Sabres.
In exchange, the Wings gave up Slava Kozlov, a 2002 first-round pick (Jim Slater) and future considerations.
It was a trade that worked out tremendously well for the Red Wings as he backstopped the club to a Stanley Cup title in 2002 and another upon his return to Detroit in 2008.
His first stint only lasted parts of two years. After the 2002 title he retired, but returned for the 2003-04 season, before the lockout kept players out for 2004-05. He later returned to Detroit in 2006 as a free agent.
All in all, Hasek posted a tremendous 114-39-19 record in net with a .911 save percentage in 176 games played.
