Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday!
On this day in 2002, Steve Yzerman picked up a goal and an assist in game four of the Western Conference quarter-finals becoming the Detroit Red Wings all-time leading playoff scorer.
Yzerman, 36, had a strong regular season for the Red Wings scoring 48 points in 52 games and when the playoff hit, Yzerman took his game to another level.
Enroute to his third cup title, the centre scored six goals and 23 points in 23 games. Yzerman ended up with another 19 playoff games played, scoring another 10 points, giving him a total of 185 playoff points in 196 playoff games.
The record Yzerman broke was held by none other than Gordie Howe, who upon retirement finished his career with 157 games played and 160 points.
