Red Wings vs Stars | OddsShark Matchup Report

For as much as the Red Wings struggled at home last season with a 12-23-2 record, they were significantly worse on the road finishing 5-26-3. Those road woes have carried over into the early stages of 2021; after going a respectable 2-2 at home, Detroit has opened the season 0-2 on the road with back-to-back blowout losses of 4-1 and 6-2 to the Chicago Blackhawks. Things don’t get any easier for Detroit on the road with these two games scheduled against Dallas and its next two road games against the defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Red Wings are 1-4 on the moneyline in their last five road games against the Dallas Stars per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Dallas has only played two games so far this season after its first four games were postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak. The Stars impressed in their eventual season opener with a 7-0 win over the Nashville Predators last Friday and followed that up with a 3-2 win over the Predators on Sunday night. Joe Pavelski is off to a sensational start with three goals and four assists in Dallas’ first two games. The Stars are 10-4 in their last 14 games played in January.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at online betting sites. The OVER is 5-1-1 in the last seven games between the Stars and the Red Wings.
These two teams are at very different stages in their development with the Stars coming off of a run to the Stanley Cup Final last season and the Red Wings coming off of one of their worst seasons in franchise history. Detroit and Dallas usually only match up twice a season as they are in different conferences, but this year’s divisional realignment has set the stage for eight regular season games between these two clubs.
