If falling 4-3 in a shootout against the Anaheim Ducks wasn’t bad enough, the Detroit Red Wings also came away from Sunday’s loss with some unfortunate injury-related news involving their top two skaters, in captain @Dylan Larkin and @Tyler Bertuzzi.
After both skaters missed Monday’s practice at the SAP Arena in San Jose, coach Jeff Blashill couldn’t provide any additional information other than that Bertuzzi’s status will be determined during Tuesday’s morning skate.
Bertuzzi, 26, suffered a cut on his arm during the final minute of overtime Sunday, although Blashill initially admitted he didn’t believe the injury was too serious post-game.
For Larkin, 25, Blashill confirmed the Red Wings captain suffered an upper-body injury and is undergoing further testing to determine the severity of his injury. It remains to be seen if the 6’1″ center will be available for Tuesday’s contest against the Sharks.
Over 28 games in 2021-22, Bertuzzi has logged 19:22 minutes of ice-time per night, posting 16 goals and 26 points. Additionally, the left-handed winger has also created 69 shots on goal, 25 hits, 21 takeaways and 16 blocks.
Detroit will look to snap its two-game losing streak in San Jose on Tuesday, with puck drop scheduled for 10:30 pm ET.
