Red Wings trim active roster to 25

Several moves were announced Monday afternoon as the Red Wings continue to narrow down their active roster. Starting with player assignments: Matt Puempel and Dylan McIlrath both cleared waivers and will report to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. Luke Witkowski also cleared, but will remain with Detroit for the time being. Lane Zablocki was also sent back to juniors where he will join the Kelowna Rockets who acquired him yesterday.

Some injury reserve moves were made as well. Defensemen Mike Green was placed on the injury reserve, as he is currently dealing with health issues. Additionally, Evgeny Svechnikov and Brian Lashoff were placed on the non-roster injury reserve.

These moves brings the roster down to 25 active players. The team has until 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday to finalize their 23 man roster.
