Red Wings Select Robert Mastrosimone 54th Overall

With their third pick in the draft, the Red Wings have selected forward Robert Mastrosimone from Chicago of the USHL with the 54th overall pick. Mastrosimone is the first forward Detroit has selected, with the first two picks being a defensemen.

A quick scouting report on the American winger: He is hard-nose, speedy player with a great shot. He can make plays, but his calling card is work ethic and compete. In the USHL he recorded 31 goals and 60 points in 54 games. He is committed to Boston University next season.
