The Detroit Red Wings may be currently shut down due to the recent surge of COVID-19, however, they can still celebrate the impressive performance from captain @Dylan Larkin, who’s been named the First Star of the Week in the National Hockey League.
The two other skaters that were recognized for their strong showings included: St. Louis Blues forward @Vladimir Tarasenko, who scored four goals and six points. And, Winnipeg Jets forward @Nikolaj Ehlers, who scored two goals and seven points.
Larkin, 25, led the way offensively for Detroit during the past week, where he posted five goals – including his first career hat-trick against the New Jersey Devils – and seven points from Dec. 14-18.
On the season, the 6’1″ center has appeared in 27 games, registering 15 goals and 29 points. In addition, the Red Wings captain has also created 78 shots, 15 hits, 14 takeaways, 13 blocks and a 53.4% faceoff percentage over his 18:56 minutes of ice-time per game.
Detroit is scheduled to resume its season on Dec. 27 against the New York Rangers, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 pm ET.
