Red Wings at Stars | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Red Wings ended 2019 on a high note with a 2-0 victory over the San Jose Sharks. Jonathan Bernier stopped all 34 of the shots that he faced to give Detroit its first shutout win of the season and its first victory since December 14, snapping a six-game losing streak in the process. Tyler Bertuzzi potted the game-winner in the second period for his 15th goal of the season. The 24-year-old enters 2020 leading Detroit in goals with 15 and assists with 16.
Over their last 10 road games, the Red Wings are just 1-9 on the moneyline per the OddsShark NHL Database. Detroit is 4-14-2 away from home this season.
Dallas erased a 2-0 first period deficit to defeat the Nashville Predators 4-2 in Wednesday’s Winter Classic. The Stars have been among the league’s best teams since opening the season with a 1-7-1 record, going 22-7-3 over their last 32 games including a current stretch of three straight wins. Dallas doesn’t score many goals at just 2.66 per game, but Ben Bishop and Anton Khudobin have combined to produce the league’s second best goals-against average (2.46) and save percentage (.923) behind only the Boston Bruins.
Friday’s total is set at 5.5 goals at online betting sites. The UNDER is 7-2 in Dallas’s last nine games at home.
Before losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 and defeating the San Jose Sharks 2-0, the Red Wings had allowed 4.08 goals per game over their previous 13 games and had allowed five or more goals in eight of those 13 games. Offense is going to be extremely difficult to come by in Dallas, so any chance the Red Wings are going to have at an upset will have to come from another strong performance in the defensive end.
