The Detroit Red Wings are 1-10 in their last 11 road games, but that one road win came last week against the Buffalo Sabres. The Red Wings will be hoping for the same result when they visit the Sabres again on Tuesday night.
Detroit is a +180 road underdog on the NHL odds in Buffalo at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Sabres (-220) are just 1-4-1 in their last six games at home.

Red Wings at Sabres | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Red Wings have only won 14 games this season, but two of those wins have come against the team sitting in first place in the NHL standings. Detroit pulled off a stunning 3-1 upset over the Boston Bruins on Sunday for the team’s biggest upset of the season as +280 underdogs. With the win, Jonathan Bernier improved to 4-2 in his last six starts and has now allowed three goals or fewer in each of his last 10 appearances. Bernier has without a doubt become the biggest bright spot on this dark season.
In their last 10 games against the Sabres, the Red Wings are 4-4-2 per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Buffalo fell to 24-24-8 on the season and to 2-5-1 over its last eight games with a 3-2 loss at home to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night. The Sabres’ current slump includes home losses to Anaheim, Detroit, and Ottawa; three of the bottom six teams in the league standings. Of course, the Sabres sit right above those teams with the seventh worst record in the NHL, and are on their way to a ninth straight season without advancing to the postseason. Jack Eichel is living up to his potential as a franchise player, but the 23-year-old doesn’t have the support he needs to succeed.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at online betting sites. The UNDER is 4-1 in Detroit’s last five games.
Detroit has allowed only 2.4 goals per game over its last five games, winning two of those games and getting shut out in the other three. The play in the defensive end has been promising, but the Red Wings would love to start showing more consistent life in the offensive zone as well.
