Red Wings at Devils | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Red Wings played in their sixth straight one-goal game on Thursday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but were on the wrong end of that one goal for the fourth straight time in a 5-4 loss. Tyler Bertuzzi scored two goals to bring his total to 10 on the season, but the offense couldn’t overcome the five goals that the team had surrendered in its own end. Detroit has the worst team goals-against average in the league at 3.75 while Saturday’s opponent has the second worst mark in the NHL at 3.57 goals against per game.
Detroit’s road woes continued in the loss to Columbus as the Red Wings are now 1-10 on the moneyline in their last 11 games away from home per the OddsShark NHL Database.
New Jersey’s scoring issues continued on Friday night in a 4-1 road loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Dating back to November 5, the Devils are averaging just 1.78 goals per game and have scored more than two goals in a game only once over that nine-game stretch. On the season, the Devils have scored 2.43 goals per game, just about the same output that the Red Wings have produced with their 2.42 goals per game. New Jersey is 1-6 in its last seven games against teams in the Atlantic Division.
Saturday’s total is set at 6.5 goals at sports betting sites. The UNDER is 4-1 in the last five games between the Red Wings and Devils.
The Red Wings have scored three goals or more in six of their last seven games and will be facing a Devils team that just played last night in Pittsburgh. Another solid performance on offense could be enough to pull off a road upset in this one.
