Red Wings at Canadiens | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Red Wings had gone 12 games without a win and eight games with three goals or less on offense before Thursday night’s meeting with the Winnipeg Jets. Detroit mercifully broke both of those streaks with a 5-2 win over the Jets as Jonathan Bernier stopped 26 of the 28 shots that he faced and Robby Fabbri led the way on offense with two goals and an assist. The last time the Red Wings won to snap a losing streak, it was followed by two more wins; Detroit is hoping for some similar momentum this time around.
In their last six games on the road, the Red Wings are 0-4-2 per the OddsShark NHL Database.
After opening the 2019-20 season with an 11-5-3 record through the first half of November, the Canadiens closed out November with an eight-game losing streak going 0-5-3 with six straight losses at home. Montreal snapped its losing streak against the New York Islanders and has now gone 4-1 over its last five games with three straight wins coming into this matchup against Detroit. The Canadiens host the Red Wings on Saturday night before hitting the road for a seven-game road trip to close out the month of December.
Saturday’s total is set at six goals at sports betting sites. The OVER is 6-2 in Detroit’s last eight games played in December.
Detroit likely doesn’t enter too many games with confidence this season, but in this spot the Red Wings are coming off a win and facing a team that they’ve already beaten on the road this season. They’d have preferred to catch the Canadiens a couple of weeks ago when they were still slumping, but they’ll do what they can on Saturday as big underdogs.
