The Detroit Red Wings are 0-2-2 in their last four games against the Colorado Avalanche. The Red Wings will try to snap this losing streak and pick up their first win over the Avalanche since March of 2017 on Monday afternoon.
Detroit is a +300 road underdog on the NHL odds in Colorado at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Avalanche are going off at over -300 for the first time since 2015 and just the second time since 2006 as massive -400 favorites in this matchup.

Red Wings at Avalanche | OddsShark Matchup Report

Jimmy Howard bounced back from allowing three goals on seven shots against the New York Islanders with a brilliant performance last Friday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, stopping 35 of the 37 shots he faced in a 2-1 overtime loss. The Red Wings turned right back to Howard the following night, and he was once again sharp against the Florida Panthers, making 34 saves on 37 shots to keep his team in the game. But Detroit lost that one 4-1, being held to two goals or less for the ninth time in its last 10 games. This lack of offensive production won’t cut it regardless of who is in goal.
The Red Wings are 4-17-2 on the road this season including a current losing streak of six straight regulation losses per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Colorado has broken out of its recent four-game losing streak with back-to-back wins of 4-0 over the San Jose Sharks and 5-3 over the St. Louis Blues. After starting the season off with a record of 22-9-3, the Avalanche hit a mid-season slump in late December through early January as they went 3-6-3 over a stretch of 12 games. But as the All-Star break approaches this weekend, the Avalanche are comfortably in a playoff spot with a 27-15-6 record and are the owners of the Western Conference’s top offense averaging 3.6 goals per game.
Monday afternoon’s total is set at 6.5 goals at sports betting sites. The OVER is 6-2 in Colorado’s last eight games at home.
In a season full of lopsided lines, this one is the most lopsided yet for the Red Wings. Without any offensive momentum, keeping up with one of the league’s best offenses is going to be quite the uphill battle.
