The Detroit Red Wings have signed their 9th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, Michael Rasmussen to a 3-year entry level contract.
Rasmussen, a 6-foot-6, 221 pound center will spend the upcoming season with the Tri-City Americans of the WHL, where he will serve as team captain. The Surrey, British Columbia native is currently in Plymouth, Michigan for the World Junior Summer Showcase where he is playing for Team Canada. Also important to note, that he has just recovered from a wrist injury he suffered back in late February, and this wrist injury kept him out of a scrimmage at the Red Wings 2017 prospects Development Camp, as well as 2 games at the World Junior Summer Showcase.
If Rasmussen does not play 9 NHL games this season, his entry level contract will slide 1 year, if this happens and he does not play 9 NHL games the following season, it will slide 1 more year.
