According to the Red Wings, winger Anthony Mantha will be back in the lineup for tomorrow’s game against the Colorado Avalanche.
After confusing many in WingsNation, Anthony Mantha – the former 20th overall pick in 2013 – makes his return to the lineup after missing the Wings’ last two games as a healthy scratch. According to Mantha, he was not completely sure why Coach Blashill had him out of the lineup but understood that it was the coach’s decision to make.
From the Red Wings’ official site:
“Obviously there are plenty of questions that go through your head. There has to be an idea behind his decision and he talked to me about it and for me it comes down to playing better in general. I’ll keep my head up. I’ll come back stronger than I was the last few games.
Currently, Mantha’s 33 points (14 goals and 19 assists) ranks him fourth in team scoring and he will be expected to contribute offensively upon his return. Mantha has one goal and one assist in his last five games played for the Wings and has had some trouble producing consistently this season, a struggle shared by many young players that are trying to gain traction.
The Red Wings will surely get a motivated player back in the lineup as Mantha will look to prove that Coach Blashill was wrong by sitting him over the past two games. The Red Wings face the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center tomorrow at 9:30pm EST.
